Ya this is what I catch with "live bait"

but yeah many ways to catch them. Just like how a 6 pound bass will hit a 3 inch tube and a 2 pound bass will whack a 8 inch huddleston deluxe.

Hi Kira!

Will do!!!!

Best you start learning on how to dress for cold weather and have very very good insulated boots.

Worst thing about being on ice is having cold feet!
Can spoil even a perfect day fishing!
Having ALL NECESSARY SAFETY GEAR is also important!

Kira icefishing is the easiest thing every. The most important factor is knowing where the weedline is...

Hi Kira!

BT is somewhat right!

But having 5 tip-ups set (like fishing with 5 rods simutaniously) and having all of them "FLAGGING" at the same time is WILD!

SeaDog1 - I'm a cold weather chick...I don't like the heat at all (one of the main reasons I fish at night so much.) I'll be just fine temperature-wise.

BT - That first pike looks like a novelty pillow. Squishy.

Bluegill Terminator - Nice fish! That's a fatty!! What were it's measurements, weight, etc. My PB is 38" but she wasn't nearly that fat. All caught on sunfish during the summer. Where were you when you got it, if you don't mind me asking?

Came from Bantam weight 17.5 pounds inches was 37. I caught it in south cove in everyones secret spot. The other pike came from Bantam in south cove in the general area where all the lazy ice fisherman fish (my sled lost a ski that day).

Thanks for the info. I have caught pike in that weedbed in years past, but like I said, I haven't been to Bantam in a couple of years. I do plan to get back up that way very soon. Again, nice fish!
Not this weekend, but next weekend, I'm definately going to head over there. Spent another 5 hrs at Mansfield Hollow with nothing. Unbelievable! If I was bass fishing the whole time during all the time I've spent on that lake I bet I would have caught at least 1 by accident.
As you well know (judging by some of your pics) you have to fish differently for big fish. Usually that means less quantity and better quality, but I haven't caught one in 2 months, and I go every weekend. Time to hit a new lake.

Flipper - I know how you feel. Maybe you should break up your pike fishing with an occasional bass fishing outing. Very Happy

What's up, Phil. I'm getting pretty desperate for some action. Actually I was thinking about grabbing my bait catching gear and heading over to Crystal Lake (Ellington) for some trout. It's like pulling fish from a barrel over there. Just so I remember what it's like to catch a fish. Embarassed
